On auspicious day of March 24, 2013, the YBAB Board meeting was convened at Dudjom Throema Tshogkhag in presence H.E Dungse Garab Rinpoche, President of YBAB; objectively to discuss about the upcoming YBAB’s celebration of Lord Buddha’s Parinirvana/Birth Anniversary which falls on the Fifteenth Day of the Fourth Month of the Female Water Snake Year corresponding to May 25, 2013 this year; a fine Saturday.

The auspicious day of Lord Buddha’s Parinirvana/Birth Anniversary is celebrated by the YBAB as an annual event with the objective to:

• To inculcate the habit of marking lord Buddha’s Birth anniversary.
• To remind and educate youth on auspicious day.
• Promulgate the teachings of Lord Buddha.
• Creation of awareness on the essence of Buddhism.
• To popularize the Buddhist religious functions.
• Reminding the public about the existence of peace and harmony in the country & its causes.
• To support culture and tradition of Bhutan.

The main issues discussed during the meeting were regarding the preparation process of the celebration. As well as arrangement/ procurement of the items required during the celebration.

The YBAB Board also would like to take this opportunity to inform the YBAB District Representatives and members that while you are celebrating the Lord Buddha’s Parinirvana Day, kindly follow the code of conduct of the YBAB Article of Association so as to enable the smooth conduct of such functions. Always do remember the YBAB caption “Buddhism is our Wisdom, Culture is our Method”.
